About Reporters Against Corruption (RAC)
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Act was enacted on 23 February 2004 in the face of long-standing demands and agitations from various quarters. The Act came into force on 9 May 2004. The ACC was established in the same year abolishing the Bureau of Anti-Corruption.
But the commission completely failed to meet the expectations of the nation immediately. Basically, the commission remained ineffective. The failure of the first commission to enact even the necessary rules for its operations, due to the conflicts between commissioners, disappointed everyone. As a result, the struggle to turn the commission into an effective institution began.
In the context of this struggle, the organization ‘Reporters Against Corruption’ was born on January 11, 2005, with an aim to enhance the fight against corruption.
Since its foundation, RAC has been playing a tireless role in strengthening the ACC along with conducting various anti-corruption activities. Although started on a very small scale, RAC is now a huge family of around a hundred members.
